In many schools, bank receipts are still the backbone of fee administration. Parents queue at the bank, then queue again at the school, and since receipts are of paper, they easily get misplaced, damaged, or lost. Academic records face similar challenges. Report cards get lost, altered by students, or delayed. In some cases, schools are forced to recompile results manually because records from previous terms cannot be retrieved easily. Generating returns, statistics, and reports required by the Ministry often means digging through filing cabinets, registers, and spreadsheets. What stood out most was not resistance to change, but fatigue. Schools were working hard, sometimes heroically, within systems that no longer served them.
